FJR1300 isnt all that quick for its size, heavy yes, retro yes, cool fairly. Only has 5 gears if memory serves. Why not look at things like Speed Triples, best of both worlds, sports bike handling but the comfort of a tourer.

    Oh this revisited.

I bought another CBR600F4i. Best bike Honda ever made. I put my old CBR600F luggage system on it. This fits P90 (and hopefully commando AUG too).

Problem is it's super upgraded with rock solid suspension and a shock that cost more than the bike.

The thing is about street triples is that they're like trail bikes and off road bikes. They are theft magnets of the highest order.

    Plus no wind protection.

I intend to bang out one last mega tour before settling down.

Speeds and streets aren't that bad and the wind protection isn't bad if you get the extended screen.
It's certainly better than an XJR1300. Even the speed triple (1050cc) is lighter and more nimble than the XJ.
Downside with the 600 is its buzzy as fook on the motorway but it is a sports bike.
For distances I'd rather have the bigger engine, or at least more torque.
